Sandra Farrington, known as “Gertie” to her family, was born on June 22, 1942, in Southern California. She was the oldest of four children, lovingly surrounded by her siblings Janet (Bonesy), Robert (Birdie), and Patricia (Hoon).
She enjoyed a wonderful childhood growing up in Van Nuys. After high school, she married and began raising her family, welcoming three children: Donald (Juggie), Patricia (Trisha), and Kathleen (Kaffers).
Sandra was a devoted and loving mother. Her children remember a joyful upbringing in Simi Valley, filled with summers spent swimming and winters skiing in Mammoth.
At the age of 33, she began a new chapter as an independent woman, moving to Thousand Oaks. There, she met her neighbor, Frank Farrington, who would become the love of her life. After several years of dating, they married and blended their families, adding four more children.
Sandra and Frank shared a beautiful and adventurous life together. They traveled the world, sailed the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, and created lasting memories vacationing in Mammoth with their children.
After retirement, they moved to Reno, where they enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with their many dear friends. They also shared a special love for their dogs, Dudley and Nellie, whom they adored and spoiled.
With more time to pursue her interests, Sandra discovered a talent and passion for quilting, embracing her creative side.
Following Frank’s stroke, they relocated to Murrieta to be closer to family. There, Sandra continued to build meaningful friendships and community.
In November of last year, Sandra was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She faced her illness with grace and strength, supported by her deep Catholic faith, which brought her comfort throughout her life.
She looked forward to being reunited with Frank and her parents. Above all, Sandra cherished her many friends and loved ones—especially all of you who shared in her life.
